How To Create Kali Linux VirtualBox Image?
Want to create an ISO Image of Kali Linux within your VirtualBox? Here is how we are going to do it. In this article, I will show you “How to Create a Kali Linux VirtualBox Image”. This there is no need for installing and creating a new VM each time.
Create a new virtual image and use that whenever you want to access Kali Linux. Or you will use the Image on any other VM without installing it.
This means that once you have installed Kali Linux on VirtualBox, you don’t need to go and create an Image of your guest operating system. Just import the image into VirtualBox you will get a complete guest operating system installed and configured.
As the created Image will not only save you a lot of time but you don’t have to go for that much trouble too. There will be no creation of a New Virtual Machine and then Customize the Virtual Machine, or installation.
Simply go to the Home page click on Import and you get the Kali Linux up and running. While most of the users experience Screen Resolution problems on new installations and need a lot of configuration and installation to fix it. With Importing the Image, once you have fixed the issue, you won’t need to perform that again.
How To Create Kali Linux VirtualBox Image
An Image file includes all system files bit to bit and as well that will include all the Custom Settings and Configuration. So, make sure that when you want to create an Image of Kali Linux do all the work correctly.
Tip: Make sure, you are going to create an Image that can be used on all systems and can be also used by all. There are no heavy applications installed (which increases the Virtual Image size) or you have added your personal files.
Step 1: Open VirtualBox
Open VirtualBox & you will see a list of your guest operating system options on the left side. Within the menu, there are Tools.
Click on Tools, and on the right side, you will have some options like Preferences, Import, Export, New, and Add. Here you will click on Export.
Step 2: Select Guest Operating System to Export
VirtualBox will display all of your guest operating systems. Make sure to select the one you want to create an Image of. Since we are creating an Image of Kali Linux, we will select Kali Linux. And click on Next.
Step 3: Kali Linux VirtualBox Image Settings
Now you have to select the Format Version and confirm a Location where you want to save Kali Linux VirtualBox Image. Make sure to store that out of C Drive, for your future need.
If you want to export the ISO image as well mark the option Include ISO Image File and then click on Next.
Step 4: Virtual System Settings
Now, you will select all the options of Image and click on Export.
NOTE: the exporting process might take a while… Take a break or go outside for a while. And catch up again after 20 minutes, by then the Image will be created.
Once the Image is fully exported then you will open the folder where you have exported the file. Now are done with creating Kali Linux VirtualBox Image, you can use this image in future endeavors.
Step 5: Install Kali Linux with VirtualBox Image.
As we mentioned above, there is won’t be any configuration or installation. You are going to import the Image on VirtualBox and start using it.
From the VirtualBox Home page, select Tools from the left menu. Here you will select the Import option.
Click on the folder which is on the right empty row, and select Kali Linux VirtualBox Image; click on Next.
Confirm the location where you want to store Kali Linux Guest Operating system files, and click on Import.
Wait for a while for the installation to get completed. Once completed then you will select your New Guest OS which is added to the list and then click on Start. Now you will enjoy your freshly installed and configured Kali Linux on VirtualBox.
