Easily Install VMware Unlocker

VMware Unlocker is essential because it enables VMware Workstation or ESXi to support macOS as a guest operating system. Normally, VMware products don’t natively allow macOS to be installed on non-Apple hardware due to Apple’s licensing restrictions. VMware Unlocker modifies the VMware software to bypass these limitations, allowing you to install and run macOS in a virtual environment.

And if you are here then you have probably downloaded it (if not click here) and want to install VMware Unlocker on your Windows in VMware Workstation or Player. So, here is how you are going to do it.

After downloading the VMware Unlocker, you will find it compressed in zip file format. You will need to extract it first for installation. For this purpose, you can use 7Zip or WinRAR to extract the files inside. After the extraction, you find these three files for sure:

win-install.cmd > Configures Workstation Settings
win-uninstall.cmd > Restores / Uninstalls Workstation Settings
win-update-tools.cmd > Downloads the latest macOS Guest VM Tools

Ensure that VMware Workstation or VMware ESXi is completely closed. This includes closing any running virtual machines on your PC.

Navigate to the extracted folder and find the appropriate script to run based on your operating system:

For Windows: Right-click on win-install.cmd and select Run as administrator.

For Linux: Open a terminal and run sudo ./lnx-install.sh.

For macOS: Open a terminal and run sudo ./osx-install.sh.

The script will automatically patch VMware to unlock macOS support. This process should only take a few minutes.

After the script completes, restart VMware Workstation or ESXi. You should now be able to create and run macOS virtual machines.

Important Notes:

Ensure that your VMware software is compatible with the version of the VMware Unlocker you are using.

Always back up your VMware configuration and any important data before running the Unlocker, as this tool modifies the VMware software.

By following these steps, you can easily install VMware Unlocker and start running macOS on your virtual machines.
